About us

The Nature and Ecology Museum acquaints Polotsk residents and guests of the city with the nature of Poozerye, the ecological problems of the region and ways to overcome them. The exhibition of the museum is designed to show nature as a value and part of human existence, and man - as a part of natural space.

Undoubtedly, a traditional and highly effective form of museum activity is an excursion, where the visitor gets the opportunity to learn about the world around him through a museum object. This is the most common form of interaction between a museum and its visitors. In addition to the sightseeing tour, our museum also offers various thematic excursions.

The Nature and Ecology Museum pays great attention to educational activities in the field of ecology. Environmental education is aimed at spreading environmental knowledge, improving environmental culture and, in general, contributing to the harmonization of relations between man and nature.

The traditional direction in environmental education is the organization and holding of temporary exhibitions, revealing the theme of nature and ecology of Belarus. Within the framework of exhibitions in the museum, meetings are held with interesting people who, with their creativity, help to push the boundaries of the perception of the world, stop and reflect on the eternal problem - why we live, what "trace" we will leave in nature.

Particular attention is paid to working with the younger generation. Researchers develop and conduct museum and pedagogical classes, lectures, quests about nature and ecology, organize events and competitions dedicated to environmental dates.

The museum constantly carries out research work in various areas of environmental protection, in the process of which archival documents are studied in search of important and interesting local history information. Based on the results of this work, researchers take part in conferences and seminars, make publications, study and catalogue museum items, search for new items, develop concepts for the development of the museum and its exhibitions.
